Holmes Property Sales has almost 30 years experience, 20 since the incorporation in 1986 of the agency's current managers, Miguel Preysler and Ian Bateman, leading to its configuration as a family company.
In 1978 Miguel Preysler was appointed general manager of Sotogrande, which office he held until 1983. It is during this period that he met Ian Bateman, who in the late 1970s travelled from England to Sotogrande, where he bought an apartment in the complex known as Casas Cortijo along with five friends. At the time the complex was disabled, Ian, with the help of his English travel agency Holmes Travel, renting packages of the apartment, which included rent a car services, the trip and green fees of the Gold Course Las Aves (the current Valderrama Golf Course). With this offer, Ian found himself with an excess of reservations, which is why he started to look for more and more apartments within the same Sotogrande complex, and on the basis of this he created Holmes Promociones S.A.
Miguel, who was the general manager of Sotogrande at the time, has two hotels and Ian, meanwhile, continued to rent out Casas Cortijo next to Las Aves. Miguel contacted Ian with the proposal that he become the manager of the hotel business of Sotogrande, thus offering hotel rooms apart from apartments in his company. Thus, Ian collaborated with Miguel with the purpose of increasing the hotel's occupancy rate, which increased from 30 to 80%, so as to thus get to sell the hotels after one year and a half of joint cooperation. This experience meant the beginning of a friendship that subsequently led to the creation of Holmes Property Sales S. L.
Now, both of them are in agreement that the pioneering agency in real estate services in Sotogrande, Holmes Property Sales, should restrict itself to Sotogrande and the company is trying, day by day, to create a niche in the residential area. "Sotogrande is a place that Ian and I know both inside and outside, thanks to our having been part of Sotogrande S. A, thus giving us a privileged perception of the deepest recesses of the area and distinguishing us from the competition". Holmes Property Sales will son turn 30, and it hopes to last far longer. "In 2009 we will have been working together more than many married couples," concludes Miguel laughingly.
